All about myself in school! By Charlene

It’s been such a busy week and now we have to do some work even though we tried so hard to make the classroom clear year 4 to go to year 5. Well I want to tell every single person that goes on the blog about myself and I’ve learnt so much about Theseus and the Minotaur because we made some scenes. We have read the story about Theseus and the Minotaur. We learnt about the Victorians, and we dressed up as them in the olden days, disagreeing with each other. We learnt about South Africa even though we ate South African food it was delicious. The Highwayman was my favourite topic of the year because Mr Sloan kept on asking questions about the narrative poem.

It was very exciting when everyone in year 5 went on a trip to this wonderful place and we went to Cardiff to see the BBC and touch the controls inside the Tardis. We went to Science Museum to watch Hubble in the Imax cinema and we all enjoyed going inside the Launchpad to play games. We went to the Emirates Stadium and we were singing songs and we went on a tour to see the Stadium. We went to the Canal Museum to look at some interesting boats and dressed up as Victorians. When we went to the Canal Museum,  we saw lots of people when we arrived but we all enjoyed it at the beginning but at the end it was dreadful.

Well, I enjoyed learning about English because I really like the topics because Mr Sloan has really tried hard for year 5 class and now its the end of the year 5 he is still going to be our teacher in year 6 and I am going to enjoy the topic. When we were learning about the Highwayman, I really wanted to write a character study about his wife. If I was the Highwayman, I will always check up on Bess if the Highwayman loves her. Maths was quite fun because we got to play lots of games about maths and I kept on beating Sharon and she kept on laughing. When we go to Pendarren, we are not going to be doing any Maths, English or Science.

Well, these are the things that have been difficult in the whole year maths have been very difficult because I need to improve and science has been quite difficult because sometimes you can’t get everything right in science you can struggle with it. There is so much experiments you can do in your life. Make sure you’re with an adult or someone to check up on you. Today is the party for the end of the year and I am really excited because we can have fun and celebrate. We had to take books home and now we get to have a party in our classroom. Now we don’t have to do any work in year 5 any but maybe today we are just going to play a maths game with a partner. I really like the game that Mr Sloan choose and I hope everyone likes my post.If you like my post I am going to cry with tears of joy and everyone at home is going to see me or everyone might see me at school in the ICT Suite. There are lots of computers in the ICT Suite and I am really excited if I see lots of comments or comment.

All about my extraordinary year in year5! By Leyla

This year in year5 we have been doing lots of exiting events and have been talking about what we found difficult, what we enjoyed, what we learnt and all the exiting events and trips we had! All the events and trips were outstanding (Especially when we got to go to Cardiff and see the BBC). Well let me tell you all about it, Mr Sloan our class teacher kept a secret but didn’t tell us what it was, no matter how much we begged him, he still wouldn’t tell us. The next day, yep the secret came out we were going to CARDIFF! I really didn’t think US wonderful children was going somewhere we always wanted to go but yes we were. It was … do you know how great it was? no exactly that’s how great it was, I couldn’t describe it myself. The most exiting bit was when we had lunch, we were dying to eat, 4 to 5 hours of not eating yes I know your thinking, O MY GOSH! but we didn’t mind because there was something extraordinary than exiting because us Ferry Lane Primary School kids were so lucky, we actually went in the wonderful as I said extraordinary TARDIS! it was great I loved it, I just kept pulling controls and pressing them, I wish I lived in the Tardis, imagine you traveling any where you like mmm, I’m thinking I would love to go to heaven don’t you? Afterthat my eyes were going to burst into tears because we had to leave ready to go home, we all said our bye byes and set off back to our homes where it’s cozy and worm.

Before we went to Cardiff we went somewhere else which was great too. Our class went to the Emirates, the Emirates stadium to sing. Really we are great singers, all because of our great teacher Mr Sloan. Instead of taking a coach we went on a tube, our journey was great and our way back was great too. When we finished singing we had to wait for Mr Sloan because he had a conference to go to, whilst he was there we were busy eating scrumptious food, we heard he done really great when he came back, we had a tour inside the building, we got shown the football pitch and sat on the footballers seats, some people were looking for nasri’s. After that we were walking in a straight line when we all saw their shower room, I felt like diving in but I didn’t want to go home looking wet. We carried on walking when they took us to a room, guess what we saw… all the footballers T-shirt. Daniel who is in my class kissed a shirt because he is really an Arsenal fan. After the tour we got ready to go to school getting ready for a new day.

I have lots more things to share with you and now I’m going to tell you about what was difficult for me in year5. Well mental maths was so hard the first time I tried it, but the second time I got less then before, I found out that I needed to improve my maths so I practiced and practiced when we had another mental maths test and I had higher than before I had 14 out of 15 which I thought was great, so next time you struggle with something remember you could always practice and have a better mark than you usually have.

I also struggle on the end of year test I think its really hard but when I first had a go which was in year 2 I really did well but then I thought as I get older things would get harder than usuall but really when I had another test I really didn’t worry because I thought whatever happens you, you know you done really well and worked hard. So you don’t really need to worry about anything because everything is going to be alright.

In year5 I learnt lots of things during the year such as The Highwayman which was really great, How to make our own rocket which was meant to be eorodynamic, the piano which was good, making sets about the story  Theseus and the Minotour, I really liked making it, film making which was about the BBC Doctor Who loved it,and writing scrips which was also about Doctor Who. I thought I had a great time in year5 lets just hope I do in year6, actually I will because I will have the same teacher Mr Sloan I’m sure it will be great.

The next thing I’m going to write about is what I enjoyed, I really enjoy having Mr Sloan as a teacher because he’s really great and made me have a great year, I really like all my friends to because they also made me have a great year but I think Mr Sloan deserves what he wants  because he really does deserve lots.

Year 5 is ready for a new year! by Shakeem

Well today Mr Sloan told us to right down the things we were remember such as Trips, what we have learnt, our topics , well you know what I mean. We have learnt about South Africa, did you know that South Africa has alot of Animals more  countries you could ever imagine? About two weeks ago a lady came to teach us intresting most facinating facts about Bats, Bats sleep in the morning and when its night time they come and eat something, Bats are one of the most intresting animals but there very small. When it was monday the 18th July we had one of the most delious  lunch,  we had Burgers and Beans usually we don’t get those kind of meals but because  its the last week we deserve to be having a great meal.  The last Christmas concert, I had quite a big part, it was nerveracking when I stood up on the stage but eventually I knew the stage loved me.(I’m just kidding , just so know)

When were in year 4 when it was july 20th or something , a bit like that, we met Mr Sloan, he told us all about his childhood, and that he supported Arsenal fc , although he lived in Manchester. At first we didin’t know he could sing ,but he sang a song to us, our mouths rised when he finnished. We learnt really alot of songs with him and people heard about us singing with our teacher, and they wanted us to go to THE Emarates Stadium. When we arrived the first thing we did is look at the stadium from the window, then a man came, and gave us a bottle of water. Mr sloan told us to not drink a lot before we sing, a few minutes later it was time we were bursting into tears wondering how becasue how nervous we were. A man stood up on the stage and introduced us. We stood on the stage and sang tower of strengh, Johnny boy, Midnight special, freedom train, drinking gourd and I think thats all! When we finnished we got a treat, which was alot of biscuits, when we finnished we went to eat lunch, I can’t believe that the people who worked for the Emarates provided us food, I took a Chicken sandwhich with lettuce. How yummy is that? Well 10 minutes later It was what he have been all waiting for, it was THE MAGNIFICENT TOUR! We went through the tunnel, and the dressing room, and we took pictures.

I am now going to be talking to you about the Tardis and the set of doctor who. It was a friday morning aty 7.00 am when we were going to the astonishing set of Doctor who, firstly we went to see the black smith, he told us a lot of information and he told us how easy it is burning wood, when that finnished , we went to see the old victorian houses, wow imagine if those days were now, it would be horrible and this country would be poor than it was before. Sorry I love talking about this even though it was when our class was in year4, what we did is learn how to play trumpet and Clarinet, that was a brilliant oportunity for our class, we learnt a lot of s0ngs, I think we had about 3 concert’s which were amazing! Me, Daniel, George , Sharon , Jessica and Aiden have carried on and now were like rockstars in year5 , we have got more fans then you could ever think of. Did I tell you every year we do something called football festival, my team name this year was Optic Predators, we had me in year5, Saleeha, in year4, Cem and Murrat in year6 and Lee Angra in year3, our team won the football festival, everyone on my team got like a lovely Trophie , it’s brilliant i’m very serious. Ok now i’m going to carry on from where I left it on from the victorian, when  it was lunch time I had my own Sandwich nobody provided it this time. As soon as we finnished we got in our coach and went to the BBc Doctor Who. We were looking at the toys and statues then it was time for us to look inside THE THE THE, I seriously can’t say it or i’m going to feign, fine I will say it The TARDIS. We were just pulling and pushing and pressing random buttons me and some other children went down some stairs and I fell in a hole it was absoulutely hillarious! It weren’t one of those ordinary deep holes it was actually quite shallow.

At the beggining of year5 we learnt so much about Thesaus and the Minotaur, We got into 3 or 4′s to make 1 part of the story, my group was group 5. Oh yeah, the children who were in my group were Aiden and Aycan Our group was fantastic, we put our Ideas together and it got better and better and better.

Year 5 fare well.

I can’t belive  Year5 is at an end .We have done so many things and it is very hard to keep up  and name Everything we have done .Let me  tell you all about it. Where should I start. Maybe I should start when we started the blog when we did stuff about the piano.

Well it all started on the first day of school I can’t remember when.  We went to are new class room then then Mr Sloan took the Register and he told us that he had set up a  website  called thew blog and then he said that a blog is a website that you do work on an he told us are first topic in literacy was the piano and for all of us it was the first time  we had done a blog post. I’m not going into so much detail. I  will  just tell you the trips that we  have been on.

The first trip we went on was to the science museum. We had a lots of fun even though some of us had already been there and but it was still fun to see the film Hubble in 3d . Are second trip was to the canal museum. We did  alot of stuff  and it was mostly about the Victorians because it was are topic  that’s why we went to the canal  museum it was about Victorians. The building it self was a Victorian building  it was a warehouse. We walk  along  Regens canal.

Our  Third trip was the one I like the best so far It was to my favorite team’s stadium the big A the  Emirates stadium . We  saw the players on the side of the  building the  and I don’t mean they were actually at the side of the building. They were just pictures at the side of the building. then we went in side it was glorious. We actually went there to sing  but still we where going on a tour we can call it  Le tour De Emirates stadium. So we Sang our songs and then at Emirates staduim they gave us free biscuits. Then we had lunch then we had are tour and we touch the players shirts

.Then we went to the big bang science fair we had lots of fun  I ‘m not going into deatil for this trip. I am not going to talk  about the other 2  trips because are trip to cardiff   we had  are voice  recorded . Are trip to Stroud Green  to listen to the opera I want to talk  about.

It was fantastic in year 5 I’m  sad to leave year 5 R. I.P. .

Year 5 can’t get any older! By Abshir

Well as you may know year five happens to be the best class ever.  We have done the best things that could ever imagine and you could never ever be board in that class.

In year5 one of the things we have been learning about is East Africa and it has been a great topic to learn about and we also had some visitors to come and talk to us about things when they lived in East Africa. Sharon’s mum came in and talked to us about Eritrea and she even made us some Eritrean food (I mean how kind is she). It so  tasty that Daniel ate all of it in one gothat was when everybody noticed that he liked it.Another good thing that we did in brilliant year 5 was learning about  Thesues and the minotaur. It was a  great topic because my group got to do the fighting bit and we got to squeeze tomato sauce on our set and it was very cool.We also got to act out our scene and I think that we all enjoyed it and we would like to do this topic again.

Trips in year 5 have been the best ever we have been to places way beyond your imagination and one of the best ever trips were the Emirates stadium I mean how cool is that we even got to sing to a lot of people at first it was kind of scary but I started to get used to it. For a treat from all that singing  we got to go on tour around the stadium and we even got to go in the see the players changing room and a man was talking to us about the players and what they do at half time and what the manager says to them.We even went though the tunnel that the players come out to the pitch. That was one of the best thing about the tour we even saw cleaners cleaning the pitch. We also sat on the players chairs and most of the people wanted to sit on the managers seat that is how much they like him.

Another excellent trip was going to BBC Wales which took a long time to get their and some of us fell asleep in the middle of the way to Cardiff. First we went to St Fagans museum and when we saw the black smith he told us that he had been in some Doctor Who episodes and he had started off as a silver smith and one of his friends wanted somebody to help him as a blacksmith and he wanted to help. The blacksmith said that he made things for the museum and he liked being a blacksmith. Then we went to BBC Wales and we went into top secret things and we are not allowed to tell any body or we will be spoilers not even y0ur parents or your brothers and sisters. .Year 5  has been the BEST year ever your the best year 5 I hope I will see you again bye bye.

Year 5 by Atifa

This is the story about year five, (the best class ever!)  I like working with Mr Sloan because he organises so many wonderful trips for us. I really like the fact that I have improved on my handwriting, my spelling and lots more. The songs we have worked on were brilliant and we are now famous. That takes me to the next subject. We went to the Emirates Stadium and actually sang in front of about one hundred people, or more! ( Can you believe it .) We were in an arch shape and sang a few songs and made the crowd berserk. We were literally astonished when we saw so much people who came to congratulate us and  made us feel proud of what we have done. That is what I really like about year five. We always get good reports on our work, it’s only natural. In year 5 we love singing and were invited to the most amazing thing for example Emirates Stadium.

Going on trips isn’t the only reason I like year 5. I like it because we are kind and thoughtful to one other. I also like the work we do in year 5 because its fun, interesting and it pushes us. I like the fact that it pushes us because it makes me learn and it makes me faster and that’s how I think of new ideas. I really like year five because we are new to everything . Like the fact that were studying about rockets or the fact we do some more singing. The work is not very hard but it is a bit hard. I get a few mistakes, but as people say you learn from your mistakes.

Theseus and the Minotaur is something I really liked working on. We started by getting into our groups of 3 or 4 that Mr Sloan gave us. Then we were starting to make our sets, my group made the scene when Theseus arrived on Crete to kill the blood thirsty Minotaur. It was really exiting. It was really good as well because it taught me how to work together and as a team. It also taught me to listen to people and not just talk for myself. I really thought that I improved on my skills and I was really glad I did.

I was also glad that I am in the best class in the world. With the best teacher ever. Don’t forget Mr Sloan planned everything for us. That’s is why I really like year five. It is because everyone is too kind and you can’t resist not giving them a hand shake or something. ( I can’t resist it either and I’ve been in the school for about seven years!) Although year five had some fights in the past we always become friends again. That is why I really like year 5.

Year 5 is at an end! BY George.

The awesome year 5 is at an end! I wish I could do it all again, but as the saying goes “all good things must come to an end.” I’m writing this post so I can look back on all the good memories of year5.

Here are some of my favorite trips and events. Learning to play the trumpet so now i can perform to my family, going to Cardiff seeing st Fagans the tardis  BBC wales and meeting a black smith because it was a once in a life time oppertunity .We raised loads of money at the summer fate to help the school. The big bang fair was grate because we got to do fun scenic involved things. The emirates stadium was awesome as was the singing and tour because it was a football stadem and I had never been to one before! The canal museum was my last event but one of the best because we got to see some cool boats.

I enjoyed the whole year, but I liked meeting mr sloan the best because if we had a nether techer we would have done work, work, work! Some of my other likes are killer Frizbee,P.E, and the blog. All my friends, meeting Ros. Going on cool trips.

I loved the year but it was difficult like I found hand writing, timetables, art, spelling and tests hard. I think you will agree that is hard(well just me then.)

Over the course of the year I’ve learnt a lot here are some of my favorite topics and stuff linked to them.Theseus and the Minotaur was grate because at the end we made a film . A boy in the girls bathroom was very funny. The Victorians was good because we got to dress up. Doctor who was grate because we went on the tardis, scrip writing. South Africa was good because we leant about apartheid, journey to Jo berg was a grate story.

well now it must all end sadly it is time for me to go to year6!

All about my experience in year 5 by Jessica

In year five we have done a lot of different things like going on a trip to Cardiff or going to the Emirates stadium. The reason I am writing this post is to tell you, the viewers of Ferry Lane blog what we have done in year. The first thing I am going to tell you about is the trips. We have been on the most exciting trips in year five you won’t believe me when I tell you some of them. The first one I’m going to tell you about is when we went to Cardiff, it was the most exciting trip that Ihad ever been on. First we went to see a black smith and he told us all how to make fish hocks it wasn’t very exciting, but then we went to see the set of Doctor who. It was very cool I couldn’t believe I was there. Then Something happened to Shakeem he fell into the trap hole in the Tardis. Now to move on there was another trip that year five got to go to that you wouldn’t believe, and just to let you know if your a big fan of Tottenham you won’t like but we got to go to the Emirates stadium how cool is that! We went there to sing and we did our best, you should have seen us. After we did our singing we went on a tour of the Emirates stadium, there was a lot of shouting when we got to sit next to players shirt it wasn’t me.

That was only two of our trips but I think they were the most exciting trips we had ever been on in Ferry Lane Primary School. The next topic I am going to tell you about is events.  One the most amazing events we have done is writing a script for Doctor Who unbelievable right, but believe it. It all started when our lovely teacher Mr Sloan told us that we were in a project for Doctor Who. Then he said that we had to write a script for it too, I couldn’t believe it what I was hearing. We didreally great in that project. One of the other events that happened when we stated year five was blogging. I really enjoyed learning how to blog and thats how I tell you all this stuff today. There is one more event I need to tell you about it or Theseus and the Minotaur project. We made boxes for the scene we got. My scene was when Theseus first met his farther King Aegeus. If have never heard of  Theseus and the Minotaur you can see or film on the blog, go to the tag cloud and click on Theseus and the Minotaur and if that tag is still there you can watch our film.

I am now going to tell you what I found difficult during the year of year five. One of the things I found difficult was spelling, but I have tried to get better at it and I am improving everyday. One of the other things was writing a script for Doctor Who, we only had about two weeks do our scripts,do you think you could have done that, I don’t think so. This thing I think most people put down, test, in year five our test were really hard for me, but wait until year six.

In this part of my post I am going to tell you about what I have learnt in year five. One of the things I have enjoyed learning in year five was bike training we learnt how to ride on the road and be safe, and was fun to get out of the classroom and ride. The was also another event I enjoyed learning and that was singing. If we didn’t learn how to sing we wouldn’t have gone to the Emirates.  I know there are only two things I have learnt but I know all the basic stuff.

This last paragraph is about the things I enjoyed in year five. There is nothing in perticuluar that I liked the best about this years year five, but if Iwas going to say something I would say I enjoyed the expirence. My last words are THANK YOU MR SLOAN!

I like cooking club because we cooked muffins, pizza, and more . It was nice when we ate it. Summer fate is when you have fun things like win a  prize like toys, games and there very cool. The Highwayman is riding on a horse and he meet Bess, Bess like the the highway man but sometimes Bess kill herself and Tyre herself in a ghost. Test are fun but they can be boring  sometimes when someone marking your work if you get Zero you get all of the answers. On Wednesday afternoon me and Daniel have piano with Anne Carey. Doctor who all ways save the day with a help of his Amy and Rory we did filming about Doctor who and takes for Ross , and watch out ! of the monsetrs . Take this hummer. We sang Take this hummer to the people and we sang to them and made veryone  happy. Johnny boy is a sad song that made people cry . Red nose day was when you wore something red and bought a Red nose. Swimming were you have to swim your 5 metrs or 10metrs with out stopping or you can’t get your metres and fun day is great fun. In the Christmas concert we all ways act out the the things we did. The choir had to sing and the  props  are the makers. They made chrismas things. We went to the sciena museum. We had fun.We had fun in the big bang fair.

R.I.P Year 5! By Sharon

“NOOOOOOOO!” Year5 would screech. ” It can’t be. It just can’t, how can Year 5 be over?”. Oh, I know that coming towards the end of the year is not that big of  a deal. Well, it would be if you didn’t had an inter galactic class with a stupendous teacher! It was now the time to acknowledge that although Year 5 was covered in perfection, that sometimes good things come to an end. So today is a chance to mourn the amazing memories but prepare to start new ones. I will be going back in time to sink in all the mind blowing highlights of the year (have a tissue or two ready!).

Now, where do I begin with trips and incredible events? I mean, not even Einstein could remember all of them! Sometimes I think that we have travelled around the seven seas and back. But let me start with our most thrilling trip. TRAVELLING TO CARDIFF! Plus, we got to enter the mystical TARDIS on the set of Doctor. Who (no, I’m NOT pulling legs!). That was a real eye opener because at the time we were doing a project based on Doctor Who where we had to write an imaginative play script. I realised that there was more to do than just sit around and write stuff, we could actually get some inspiration. Also we took a trip to the Excel centre  where the Brillaint Bing Bang Science Fair (where the clever clogs Brian Cox was!). We also went to see an Italian Opera called El’ Elisir De’ Amore. It was just spectacular (luckily I could understand it all). Plus we stepped into the Humble Emirates! We sang in front of hundreds of cynical teachers (trust me you don’t know how much of a gut wrenching feeling Year 5 had). There are gazillions of other flabbergasting trips we had participated on but it would take me a millennium to say them all!

Year 5 has been a whirlwind of fun, excitment and glory. However school isn’t always going to be about trips and cool events, we also HAVE  to learn. Again, I have learnt things beyond human comprehension. All these facts and information that just wizz around in your brain. Throughout this year Year 5 we have learnt and studied a variety of subjects such as; The Vile Victorians where we learnt about the horrendous lifes of innocent Victorians. Stupendous South Africa where our main focus was the dreadful apartheid which seperated blakcs and whites.  Tormenting the Minatour where we became actual film directors and we made our own films (I know!). Exhilerating East Africa where we learnt the mind blowing cultures of East Africa. That topic had a rreal influence on me because I was a genuine expert on East Africa as I come from Eritrea!

All these topics were just immensely intruiging, I had never had such a educational and acedemic year in my whole 10 years of living. It has really opened my knowledge. Also I completed many writing opportunities that I had never thought that a little girl like me could achieve. I got to write an article for the Spectacular Brainpop website (which you all should check out). I wrote a book review for Teach Primary Magazine that goes out every month to all schools in Britain. Plus I got a comment from the astonishing Valerie Bloom! I can easily say that all my dreams have been accomplished! All thanks to Mr. Slaon (what could we do without him?).

In every child’s heart and mind there is always some things that they struggle on. With me I find many subject difficult, and I’m sure everyone knows what it is… ART! I absolutely loathe it! I have a clue why however there is somehting in me that prevents me from liking it. I feel that I am the worst artist in the world! I just can’t paint, draw, sketch, colour in, design etc. I think that I need to improve my attitude with Art and maybe, just maybe if I start to like it I might start to be good at it! As you saw before I had been given the chance to do many writing tasks that are just overwhelming. However sometimes every person has problems with some things. When I write I write in a conversational way (like I am doing now). That’s fine but as it is my dream to become a journalist I need to start writing in different styles. Sometimes direc, some times emotional and the list goes on. If I carry on to push myself I think that I could succeed.

I have given you a bit of a hint of what I will be talking about. Pushing myself to finish tasks! When I do my work I tend to either write a lot, sometimes we have a certain amount of time to do things and I think I need to push myself more to get tasks done in the right amount  time. All these details I have found difficult this year and as we are moving into Year 6 I need to try my hardest!

I don’t know what to say for this paragraph. I have enjoyed every single thing that has occured this year. For one thing being Mr. Sloan’s student was absolutely astounding. I couldn’t ahve asked for anything more. It was an incredible pleasure being a part of Year 5. So THANK YOU Mr. Sloan! As well as being Mr. Sloan’s sudent I have met some fantastic people that you wouldn’t usually meet. I have met this utterly wonderful woman called Ros. She is a real hero who we met whilst we were doing our Doctor. Who project. Ros encouraged us in ways other people couldn’t do (unless that person was your mother or father). It was a privallege to get to know her! Now that Year 5 is coming to an end I would just like to take a moment to say how extra ordinary my class has been. I have known them for nearly seven years and in all those years, each and every class member has been and always will be my best friend. I am heart broken that Year 5 is nearly over. Howver Year 6 will rise…
